Learn to fly radio controlled gliders and powered planes in this highly realistic flight simulator. You can use it to practise aerobatics, have a lazy fly on a rainy day, or compete to fly as fast as possible in a number of races.
It includes 28 gliders (including some electric), 15 powered planes (including three control-line), a hang glider, and a quadcopter. The simulation includes realistic models of wind flow, turbulence and thermals. You can fly with AI/computer controlled planes too, keeping you company in the air.
The sceneries include a variety of slope and flat field sites. Some are panoramic, with high graphical quality, but a fixed viewpoint. Others are 3D scenes where you can fly in or behind the plane.
It is highly configurable, so you can create and explore new terrains from inside the app, as well as adjust settings such as the wind modelling, aeroplane settings (including size and ballast) etc.
If youve never flown a radio-controlled plane before, youll probably find it hard to fly at first. Check the support website for a video and hints on how to fly. PicaSim flight simulator wont teach you how to fly, but it can help you learn - persevere and the sky is the limit!
The planes included are:
Gliders/sailplanes: ASW15, Banana, Canard, Discus, Trainer, Neoslope, Genie, Icarus (DLG), Jart, Kato, Le Fish (standard & ultralight), Magpie, Martin Wing, Mini-DLG, Minimoa, Notos (DLG), Phase 6, Plank (wing), PSS Spitfire, Quartz, Sherpa II, Spirit 2.6, Tigger (F3F), Trapeze, Dreamflight Weasel.
Electric gliders: Neoslope, trainer.
Powered R/C planes: AcroBat, Extra (3D, normal and large size), F18, GeeBee R2, RT Eraser Five, Sopwith Pup, Spitfire, High-wing trainer, twin-propeller delta, Electric Kato, Yak 54.
Control-line: Extra, Max Bee, Peacemaker.
Other: Wasp (quadcopter), Moyes XS 142 (hang glider).
You can read a detailed review of PicaSim in the February 2013 edition of Radio Controlled Soaring Digest at www.rcsoaringdigest.com - "PicaSim is a fantastic flight simulator ... after a short time it’s like having a real transmitter in your hands".
The support website provides some information on how to add your own planes and sceneries to the simulator - and has a link to a forum if you have any questions/suggestions etc.
Pros and cons of PicaSim - Flight Simulator app for iPhone and iPad
PicaSim - Flight Simulator app good for
Id like to see added a couple of models more, if possible: Easystar II with ailerons and a Cub.
Happy to find this sim! Slope modeling is really accurate.
Highly recommend!
This is a great little app! I have enjoyed flying all the aircraft and appreciate the updates and new additions.
Get it, you wont regret it.
Ive tried Electric RC and Absolute RC, shelling out $24.95 to get access to the planes, but no gliders and no cliffs. This one has it all for $2.99. Amazing wind effects, nimble slope soarers, hotliners and 3D powered planes. Nothing else compares. Real RC pilots, youll love this!
This flight sim is fun. Simple. 3 bucks you cant go wrong for a iPad App. Its not the Big Buck Sim for Computers, but for what it is, its Cool!
As an avid RC pilot Ive come across many iOS simulators and most of them are not for RC pilots or built horribly, however this sim has surpassed my expectation and now is now my favorite sim next to phoenix 5.5 on my computer I do extremely recommend this app to all RC pilots and others alike
Some bad moments
I was expecting better maps and planes when I spent $3
They dont even explode when you crash. It doesnt get me very exited when it bounces off the ground like a ball. Improve this app!
It is a great simulator for peaple that want to learn how to fly a remote controll plane in real life to fly for fun.
It is also good practice for armatures
I. Flying (like me) new tricks
This is a great game to fly remote controlled planes!
Personally I think that there are too many gliders and not enough power planes.
You should add big b-29 planes and warbirds and 3d biplanes. The geebee was great addition. I love this app
Best rc plane game on the App Store, I can play this game for hours! Keep up the great work man! Really digging the new powered plane! My fav so far! Would like to see more powered planes!
I love this app. Word like to see some new gliders for thermal and dynamic soaring. Possibly new maps???
Nice to run into a decent rc sim, this one is way above average on others I downloaded. Its a keeper.
Perhaps help on my 3d, as below beginner level on these! Enjoy the buzzards circling in backgrounds as many scenes to chose from.
Cant wait to try the gliders, slope soaring even the speedy model.
RC speed record is 400 mph no engine, yep slope glider, oh my!
